The Department of State Services (DSS) has reportedly invited Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi, for questioning his recent controversial comment during an Arise TV interview where he claimed Nigerian soldiers assisted bandits’ activities.
According to the Hausa Service of the Voice of America (VOA), the Islamic cleric was summoned to the DSS office in Kaduna State after he made the accusation against the Nigerian Army.
Also in a VOA interview, Gumi’s spokesman, Tukur Mamu said Gumi was misquoted in the TV interview and never accused the whole military of collusion with bandits.
According to Mamu, Gumi said it was what people have been saying, and “even the soldiers have been saying that there could be some bad eggs among them.”
