Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, the south east socio-cultural group said its meeting with President Bola Tinubu to strategize on the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.
Ohanaeze President, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, stated this on Saturday during a visit to the leadership of the Supreme Council of Nigeria Traditional Rulers, Southeast Chapter led by its President, HRM Eze Iheanyichukwu Nwokenna of Abia State at his Glass House Orji-Owerri office complex.
Iwuanyanwu said the planned visit to the President Tinubu is centered on all issues bothering the people of the South East geo-political zone especially to push for the release of the secessionist from the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS, following the worsening security situation in the region.
He added that, “Some people and groups are illegally feasting on Kanu’s popularity and detention just to cause unnecessary trouble and problems in the entire Southeast and for their own selfish interests. There must be peace and stability in Igboland”.
“Immediate release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will definitely restore sanity,” he said.
Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, a secessionist group for the alleged rights of Biafrans has repeatedly promote fierce against the peaceful coexistence in the southeast region, and was remanded in custody by a Abuja High Court.
