The Governor of Ondo state, Rotimi Akeredolu has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to sack the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC) and replace him with a more competent and generally acceptable candidate. The Governor who made the call when he featured on a radio programme anchored on Saturday by Fresh FM Ibadan stated that his position was based on his rejection by the Senate.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) non-elective convention has kicked off at Eagle Square in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital. At least 3,000 delegates drawn from the six geo-political zones of the country are expected on for the event. The main crux of the convention is the approval by delegates from the 36 states and Abuja for an extension of the tenure of the office of the National Caretaker Committee led by former governor of Kaduna State, Ahmed Makarfi.

The Nigerian Army on Wednesday disclosed that it had immunized over 1, 227 children against polio virus in some communities in Yobe Sate. The spokesperson of the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Lt. Col. Emmanuel Kingsley who made this known in a statement issued in Maiduguri, the Borno state Capital stated that the Children were immunized using the Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) during the exercise. He added that apart from the vaccination of children, the Army also offered free medical services to residents in the area.
