Emerging reports say seven persons were in the early hours of Thursday killed after suspected herdsmen launched an attack on a church in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State. According to the report, the armed herdsmen stormed Mbamondo clan around 12.20am and attacked some displaced persons who had taken refuge at an African Church in the area and killed seven of them.

Some angry members of the Senate have asked that the process to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari be started, for failing to get the approval for the withdrawal of $496m from the Excess Crude Account to purchase military aircraft.  Senator Mathew Uroghide, who moved a motion at the plenary on Thursday, specifically urged ‎resident of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, to allow the chamber to invoke Section 143 of the Constitution.

There are indications that President Muhammdu Buhari has dumped the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), calling on state governors elected on the platform of the party to support the emergence of former Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomole as the party's national chairman in the forthcoming national convention.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday morning arrived in Bauchi State on a two-day working visit. According to Channels Television, the president's plane touched down at the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport, Bauchi at about 10:20 am. He was welcomed at the airport by the governors of Bauchi and Adamawa states, Mr Muhammed Abubakar and Mr Mohammed Jibrilla, as well as some ministers and traditional rulers.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has voided Clause 25 of the proposed Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill, 2018, which seeks to reverse the sequence of the conduct of the 2019 elections earlier announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Justice Ahmed Mohammed, in a judgment on Wednesday, held that the powers to organise, conduct and fix dates for elections resides only with INEC by virtue of Section 15(a) of the 3rd Schedule to the Constitution.
