The Senate today resolved to suspend consideration of all nominees sent to it by the executive for confirmation. The resolution was sequel to a motion on privilege moved by Ahmed Yerima, Senator representing Zamfara West.
Yerima wondered why Acting President Yemi Osinbajo would send a nominee to the Senate after he reportedly said that the upper legislative chamber did not have the power of confirmation.

The upper legislative chamber also said the executive should respect the decision of the Senate on rejected nominees.

Osinbajo had sent a letter to the Senate asking it to confirm Lanre Gbajabiamila as the Director-General of Nigeria Lottery Commission.
