The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Plateau Command of Nigerian Prison Service (NPS), Luka Ayedoo, has debunked reports that the former Vice President of Federal Republic of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar paid a visit to incarcerated former Governor of Plateau State, Jonah David Jang in Jos Prison over the weekend.

Mainstream news media, including the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), had reported the visit citing remarks by Ayedoo.

But in a press release Monday, Ayedoo denied confirming such visit.

“The attention of Nigerian Prison Service (NPS) has been drawn to a media report claiming that the former Vice President of Federal Republic of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar had paid a visit to the former Governor of Plateau State, Jonah David Jang in Jos Prison.

“That report is not true but fictitious and blatant falsehood. The Command has not in any away confirmed such visit to any media house.

“Hence, such section of the report should be shed, as it is aimed at misleading the public,” the rebuttal read.
