Nigeria electoral umpire, INEC has advised voters in the country ahead of February 16th general election to vote with their index finger. This is coming against the former practice of voting with the thumb.
INEC disclosed that there are many more candidates on the ballot this year and so space for voters to place their fingerprint has reduced. It, therefore, advised voters to vote with their index finger, rather than their thumb.
The commission warned that voters ink might spill into another space if they use their thumb, thereby invalidating their voters.
In a similar development, INEC commenced briefing of all domestic and foreign observers who have been accredited to observe the 2019 General Elections at the Aso Hall of the Abuja International Conference Centre.
The event would allow the commission to expand its plans and preparations ahead of the general elections.
