A female suicide bomber in the early hours of Monday, July 17, 2017 detonated an Improvised explosive device at a mosque at London Ciki area, Maiduguri, Borno state. In the aftermath of the blast eight worshippers were killed and 15 others injured according to the head of Borno State Emergency Agency, Ahmed Satomi.
It was also learnt that multiple explosive devices have been detonated in separate attacks around the city. However, security agencies are yet to confirm the latest attacks in the area.
Maiduguri has recently experience an increasing wave of attacks and suicide bombings by insurgents even as government forces said the insurgent Boko Haram group had been defeated.
Boko Haram attacks have seen a rise in the use of female bombers targeting soft targets.
