The reported sack of the embattled Coordinator of Presidential Amnesty Programme, Prof Charles Dokubo, who has been embroiled in different petitions and corruption allegations in running the affairs of the Programme, has been applauded by some ex-Militant leaders from the nine states of the Niger Delta region. They described as “expected” and “commendable” the sack following a recommendation by a committee set up by the National Security Adviser.
According to the militants, the commendable move by President Buhari proves the present administration has the interest of the region at heart.
It was gathered that Prof. Dokubo, who was in London, United Kingdom, when he was fired by Mr President on Friday, February, 28, may be picked up by anti-graft agencies on arrival in the country, with a view to investigating the allegations labelled against him.
The President also directed that the caretaker committee set up to review the programme should oversee the running of the programme henceforth with a view to ensuring that government objectives were achieved.
