The Honourable Minister of Defence Mansur Dan-Ali has commended the good working relationship between the Nigerian missions abroad and the defence sections especially defence officials at the United Nations.

In a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer to the Minister, Col. Tukur Gusau, Dan-Ali hailed the quality of leadership and staff of the defence section at the UN mission in New York, noting that it was reflective of the vision of the present administration.

According to Gusau, Dan-Ali stated this during a courtesy call to the Nigeria Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Tijjani Bande in his office in New York.

He said the minister and the diplomat interacted on a wide range of issues bothering on security in Nigeria and the country’s image abroad.

The minister also congratulated the Permanent Representative for his well-deserved appointment and promised him of the full support of his ministry towards discharging his mandate at the United Nations.

The statement said, the ambassador, in his response, Bande thanked the minister for finding time after deliberations at the UN General Assembly to visit him in his office.

He described the relationship between diplomacy and defence as a major strength of any great nation.

News agency of Nigeria,NAN, reports that the ambassador also used the opportunity to congratulate the ministry on the successes recorded so far by the Armed Forces of Nigeria in the fight against insurgency in the North East and its efforts towards restoring law and order in other parts of the country and under the United Nations.
