The UN has reiterated its support to the Federal Government in the ongoing fight against terrorism.

The solidarity comes in the aftermath of Sunday night suicide bomb attacks in Maiduguri after what was largely a peaceful Eid-el-Fitr celebration across the country.

In a statement released Tuesday, UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, through his spokesman Stéphane Dujarric, condemned the series of attacks at the North-Eastern city.

According to the statement, “the Secretary-General extends his condolences to the people and Government of Nigeria for the loss of life.

“He wishes a quick recovery to those injured and hopes that those responsible for this act will be swiftly brought to justice.

“The Secretary-General reiterates the United Nations support to the Government of Nigeria in its fight against terrorism and violent extremism,” the statement read.
