There has been lobbying and tussle throughout the night of yesterday to this morning amongst aspirants of the people’s Democratic Party, PDP following the move by other aspirants to go for a consensus candidate. Accordingly, the peace talk over a consensus candidate could not see the light of the day as the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, the former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and the Governor of Sokoto state, Wazi Tambuwal all refused to settle for a particular candidate insisting that let vote be cast.
Although it was learned that some key stakeholders are persuading aspirants to front a resilient candidate that can match the ruling party which they hinted to be the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike.
According to some analysts, Wike may appear lagging but failure by the northern aspirants to merge together may cost them the ticket to move down south-south.
Meanwhile, the political arena at the Moshood Abiola Stadium has been full to brim as party delegates are set for the showdown for the PDP presidential primaries.
Big posters of Bala Mohammed, Atiku Abubakar, and Waziri Tambuwal are competing to outnumber each other with security intensified at the venue of the primaries causing gridlock for motorists.
It was learned that one of the aspirants, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen has withdrawn from the race on the ground that the election has been turned into a money-bag politics which is against his principle.
The officiating members are yet to decide what time exactly is the convention time, but a source within the party has revealed that it has been slated for 4 pm.
Meanwhile, aspirants are busy in a last minutes consultation and tussle on who woo the delegate to his fold.
