National Assembly workers under the auspices of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), have begun a four-day warning strike.
The workers in their numbers stormed the entrances to the National Assembly Complex in the early hours of Monday, 17th December 2018 and barricaded the gates thereby preventing entry into the complex.
The members of PASAN are aggrieved over the failure of the National Assembly to accede to its demands, despite several correspondences between them. One of their major demand is; payment of outstanding workers’ salaries and promotions.
It would be recalled that on 5th December 2018 as early as 8 a.m, PASAN in their hundreds converged at the foyer of the National Assembly and barricaded the entrances to the two chambers thereby; preventing Senators and House members from carrying out their legislative duties.
Most importantly, is the mounting concern over the effect of this action on the planned 2019 Appropriation Bill presentation by the President to the joint session of National Assembly, slated for Wednesday, the 19th of December, 2019.
