The Defence headquarters has debunked media reports that the Nigerian Military has perfected plans to halt further admission of female cadets as Regular Combatants Officers (RCO). The DHQ made this known on Tuesday in a statement issued by its Spokesman, Major General John Enenche. The statement described media reports that the Military would stop training female cadets to be commissioned as RCO into the Armed Forces as false.
The statement read in part;
“This is an act of disinformation to the general public by mischievous individuals. The contents of all those publications are ill intended concoctions, not authentic and should therefore be disregarded outrightly.”
The statement explained that the condition of service for cadets in the Military is not gender sensitive and stressed that no amendment had been done to the existing policy.
“They are eligible for all the types of Commission that are grantable to their male counterparts and that has not changed,” he added.
