Ibrahim Shettima, the Governor of Borno State has vowed not to seek elective position after the expiration of his current tenure in 2019. The Governor stated this on Sunday during an interview on the Osasu Show anchored by Osasu Igbinidion. Shettima who said he was ready to go back to school and earn a PhD added that it would amount to the greatest disservice to humanity and to God for him to seek other elective positions.

"What am I vying for? I think I will be doing a great disservice to humanity and to the God we worship if I start clamouring for any position, even senatorial seat.

"Let me pick the wroth in the system, the educational system, the healthcare delivery… we have two million IDPs in Borno, let me make efforts for these IDPs to return to their homes.

“But personally, I have no desire to contest for any position, not even senatorial. I want to go back to school, earn a PhD, learn French.”
