The Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki and many other Senators on Wednesday, about 1:35pm visited the National Hospital to see their counterpart, the Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye who is under arrest and currently receiving treatment due to the injuries he sustained while attempting to frustrate his arrest and arraignment in Lokoja.

The lawmakers, after arriving at the Hospital held a brief meeting with the management of the hospital before visiting Senator Melaye.

Their visit followed a resolution at plenary to visit the senator who was transferred from a private hospital on Tuesday night to the National Hospital, Abuja.

After the meeting hospital management, the Senators were eventually allowed to see the Senator inside the National Traumatic Centre in the National Hospital Abuja, where he is being treated.

Recall that the embattled senator was arrested on Monday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport and eventually released by officials of Immigration Service. Shortly after, the Police deployed over 30 armed policemen to his resident to seek his arrest. He was eventually arrested on Tuesday and taken into custody by SARS.

Attempt to transfer him to Kogi state for trial however failed as the Senator jumped out of the moving vehicle and sustained injuries for which he is being treated. He raised alarm that the Police was attempting to arraign him in Lokoja in order to subvert justice and allegedly assassinate him.
