Social Democratic Party, SDP, has denied the rumor that its party has entered an alliance with the All Progressive Congress, APC, ahead of the forthcoming General election. The party called on its members to disregard claims being spread by mischief makers to confuse party members describing the statement as a ‘false claim”. This was made known through the Secretary General of the SDP, Rufus Aiyenigba while addressing newsmen in Abuja yesterday. Reacting to the false claim by Alfa Mohammed, Aiyenigba disclosed that Mohammed's claim was misleading and that the SDP was considering an alliance with the APC and its presidential aspirant Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
He disclosed that SDP was not in any alliance with any political party or its aspirant.
However, he chided Mohammed that after his fallout with the SDP, he was playing a spoiler to the party, calling on members of the public to disregard any statement from Mohammed concerning the party.
He said, Mohammed used to be the publicity Secretary of the party but currently he is no longer a member of the SDP, recalling that the leadership of the party has severally disowned any comment from its ex-official.
He explained that Mohammed use to be the deputy spokesperson of the party in 2018 but was suspended in March 2019 by the party's National Working Committee, NWC.
Aiyenigba disclosed that Mohammed was sacked by the National Working Committee, NWC, of the SDP in August 2019 a decision that was affirmed at the party’s National Convention of the same year.
The statement partly reads, “Currently, Mohammed is a member of the APC and even a strong member of one of the support groups of that party.
He added, “There is no way a man who is playing such a role in APC could be said to be an official of the SDP”.
