The Coach of Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, Hugo Broos has appealed to Cameroonians to crash the hope of qualifying for next year's FIFA World Cup billed to take place in Russia. He explained that since the qualification is now doubtful, they should focus on the successful defence of the African Cup of Nations which they will host after beating Gabon.

Broos made the call in a press conference preceding the second leg of the World Cup qualifying match against the Super Eagles. According to him “I think we probably will not be in Russia next year. But after this World Cup, there will be AFCON 2019. We must prepare well for the AFCON. Hopefully, despite all the problems that this AFCON will take place in this country. I believe that there is nothing more beautiful than to become a second African champion in his own country.”

His appeal is coming after the Super Eagles stunned the Indomitable Lions 4-0 in Uyo on Friday. Following the win, Nigeria now tops the group with 9 points. A win in Cameroun could see the Eagles join the league of countries that have already booked their place in Russia 2018.
