Former Chelsea Technical Director, Michael Emenalo has been appointed as Monaco's Sporting Director. The Nigerian announced his sudden resignation as Technical Director after spending 10 years at Stanford Bridge. Confirming his appointment, Emenalo wrote

“This is a wonderful opportunity for me in a high-quality project. AS Monaco has shown great progress for several seasons and I am convinced that the future will be just as ambitious.

“Vadim Vasilyev’s willingness to see me join AS Monaco was decisive and for me, the choice was natural after my decision to leave Chelsea."

Emenalo had attributed his resignation to his desire to spend time with his family and to reflect on the work he has done so far.

“It is entirely my decision and it has come about for very simple reasons. I need an opportunity to get to see my young kids grow and also to step back and reflect on the work that I have done here and the things that we have been able to accomplish together in this great club.

“It is something I have been thinking about for quite some time now and it is something I have discussed with my family and they understand the reasons and the timing for wanting to step aside.”
