Manchester United are reportedly making a shock sensational move to secure the transfer of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal before the end of the January transfer window. The Chile international has less than six months left on his contract and has been heavily linked with a move to Paris Saint Germain (PSG) and Manchester City. City had attempted to snatch the striker last summer but failed on the last minute after Arsenal made futile attempt to sign his replacement.

According to Sky Sports, Manchester United have made contact with his representatives. United according to the report are thought to be willing to consider involving midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan in a swap deal for the Chile international. Sanchez had refused to renew his contract with the gunners despite upward review of his wages.

With Arsenal likely to lose the player for free at the end of the season, it is believed that they would consider available offers this January. Manchester United's interest may not be unconnected with the failure of star man, Romelu Lukaku to deliver as envisioned. Lukaku who started the season on a clinical note has managed to score few goals in several matches to the consternation of the fans.

Sanchez arrival may however strengthen the attacking line of the Red Devils as they seek to close the gap between them and the league leaders, Manchester City. United currently trail City with about 15 points.
