The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has announced its plans to launch a user-friendly self service application (app) for Nigerian in the diaspora to allow them seamlessly enroll for their National Identification Number (NIN). This initiative was disclosed on Monday during a meeting between Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chief-Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) and Abisoye Coker-Odusote, the Director-General of NIMC.
In a statement issued by the Technical Adviser on Media to the NIMC DG, Ayodele Babalola which disclosed that the app is scheduled to kick-off in February.
The statement also reads in part, “As part of the process, a dedicated Diaspora Focal Point Desk will be established at the NIMC office to ensure swift resolution of issues within 24 hours. This customer-centric approach aims to provide efficient support to Nigerians abroad in line with the agency’s commitment to quality service delivery.”
During the meeting between the 2 agencies’, Dabiri-Erewa expressed gratitude to the NIMC delegation for the forward-thing strategy, and added that will assist with the easy linkage of NIN with international passports especially for Nigerians living outside the country.
