Massive leak by three employers of Foxconn, the Chinese manufacturers that makes Apple’s product on Reddit (American social news aggregation, web content rating and discussion website) reportedly leaked the upcoming iPhone 8 to be called iPhone X, Apple Glasses, upcoming MacBooks and more.
This year marks the 10 year anniversary of the iPhone and Apple enthusiast and critics have been expecting a revolutionary device to mark the occasion. However, this is not the first time Apple products have been leaked before their eventual launch.
According to the trio the next iPhone will have several new features; the iPhone will come in three versions, one of which will have a bezel-less screen, a rear tip fingerprint scanner, and a glass back.
While the insiders say that the new designs have been tested including "more glass and dark black body," the glowing Apple logo is also expected to be reintroduced to the lineup.
On the iPad, alleged insiders have suggested that a new size variant is expected to be launched but said that they don't have access to the tablet. Apple is currently expected to launch two iPad Pro tablets - one with a 10.5-inch display and the other with a 12.9-inch display.
They said that some units with glass back and fingerprint sensor beneath the glass were tested as well but the yields were not found to be "not good".
The iPhone X has been said to feature facial detection as well as a retina scanner that will be "included in the front facing camera modules," as pointed out by the insiders. They also said that the iPhone X will carry 3GB of RAM.
The glass has been said to be included to enable wireless charging and USB Type-C has been tipped to be removed from the phone altogether. As a result, the iPhone X is also expected to be water resistant as well. On the other hand, iPhone 7s, the rumoured refresh for the iPhone 7 has been tipped to come with aluminium unibody and not feature wireless charging.
Other features reported in the leak include:
• Apple's Siri-infused speaker, expected to debut at Apples World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC), 2017 will feature a "modified A9 processor." (The A9 was the chip used in 2015's iPhone 6S.)
• No MacBook Pros "within the 18 month horizon" will get a full touchscreen.
• An iPhone 7S is in the works, separate from the "iPhone X," which will presumably become the iPhone 8.
• The MacBook Air line is "discontinued" for now, though they noted "the brand could be recycled."
• This year's iMac release will be an "incremental update," with more substantial changes delayed until next year.
• The 15-inch MacBook Pro will get a 32GB RAM option.
