President Buhari Replaces Ifeanyi Ararume As NNPC Board Chairman

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed the Board Management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPC Limited, presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina confirmed. The President appointed Margret Chuba Okadigbo as the new Chairperson of the board, replacing Senator Ifeanyi Ararume, while Mele Kolo Kyari remains the Chief Executive Officer and Umar I. Ajiya as the Chief Financial Officer of the company.


The President had in September 2021 announced the management of the board with Ararume as Chairperson but suspended the inauguration of the board.


Mrs. Okadigbo was a member of the first board as the representative of the South-east, Henry Obih has been appointed as the new representative of the region.


Other members include Tajudeen Umar, representing the North-East, Lami O. Ahmed, representing the North-Central, Mohammed Lawal representing the North-West, while Constance Harry Marshal will be representing South-South, and Pius Akinyelure representing the South-West.


According to Adesina, the President also appointed Executive Commissioners of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission.


The Appointees are Nuhu Habib (Kano), Executive Commissioner, Development and Production, Kelechi Onyekachi Ofoegbu (Imo), Executive Commissioner, Economic Regulations and Strategic Planning, Tonlagha Roland John (Delta), Executive Commissioner, Health, Safety, Environment and Community, and Jide Adeola (Kogi), Executive Commissioner, Corporate Services and Administration.


Other new Appointments include the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, namely; Francis Alabo Ogaree (Rivers), Executive Director, Hydrocarbon Processing, Mustapha Lamorde (Adamawa), Executive Director, Health, Safety, Environment and Community, Mansur Kuliya (Kano), Executive Director, Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund, Bashir Sadiq (Sokoto), Executive Director, Corporate Services and Administration, and Dr. Zainab Gobir (Kwara), Executive Director, Economic Regulations and Strategic Planning.


The new appointees will join Board Chairman, Executive Director, Downstream Systems, Storage and Retailing Infrastructure, the CEO, and Executive Director, Finance and Accounts, who had earlier been appointed, while, the Midstream and Downstream Infrastructure Fund, new Council Members are: Effiong Abia (Akwa Ibom), Bobboi Ahmed (Adamawa), and Abdullahi Bukar (Katsina).
