As the ongoing scarcity of petrol continues to bite harder, passengers travelling for Christmas were stranded at Mararaba motor park in Nasarawa State on Sunday.

NAN reports that as a result of the scarcity of petroleum products, transporters seem to be cashing in on the development, with fares increased arbitrarily.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondent who visited some of the parks on Sunday reports that travellers had given up on the trip and returned home due to shortage of vehicles at the parks.

Mr Ernest Obi, a businessman who was supposed to travel to Enugu state said he would not be able to embark on the journey.

Oil price is rising again Tuesday, on slower output fears and amid expectations that US oil inventories fell again last week.

By 1120 BST, the price of Brent crude oil was 0.48% higher at $63.21 per barrel. The price of US WTI crude oil, meanwhile, was up 0.54% at $57.52 per barrel.

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) disclosed that inflation slowed for the tenth consecutive month to 15.9 percent in November, the lowest in 18 months, this was made known in its Consumer Price Index (CPI) report for November 2017. The report noted that high food prices and food price pressure persisted during the month, driven by increases in prices of bread and cereal, milk, cheese, eggs, coffee, tea, cocoa, fish and Oil and fats.

The Executive Commissioner, Technical Service, Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), Mr Ubale Maska, on Tuesday called for collaboration with the CBN and other banks to fight electronic banking fraud.

Maska, who was represented by Mr Fidelix Onah, the Director, Technical Standards and Network Integrity of the commission made the call at a one day workshop with the theme: “Electronic Banking Fraud in Nigeria- Challenges and Way Forward” in Port Harcourt.

He said that NCC would collaborate with CBN and other banks to tackle the issue of electronic banking fraud in the country.

Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has urged civil servants in Lagos State to take advantage of the free e-dividend registration period, which ends on Dec. 31, 2017, to enrol.

Dr Abdul Zubair, the acting Director-General of SEC, made the call in a statement by the management of the commission on Monday in Abuja.

The commission stated that Zubair, represented by the Director of External Relations of SEC, Mr Henry Rowlands, made the call at an ongoing sensitisation workshop in Lagos.

The Court of Appeal Sitting in Lagos has dismissed the appeal filed by 14 foreigners who challenged their conviction by a Federal High Court for illegal dealing in petroleum products.

In a unanimous judgment read by Justice Garba Haruna on Tuesday, the appeal court panel held that the appeal of the foreigners lacked merit.

The Federal High Court, Lagos had convicted the 14 foreigners for dealing in petroleum products in Nigeria without lawful authority.

The court also ordered the forfeiture of the vessel, MT Anuket Emerald, loaded with crude oil estimated at 1,738.087 metric tons.

Members of Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) on Saturday reiterated their resolve to commence indefinite industrial action on Monday. The group said since it issued a statement informing the general public that the meeting with the Federal Government was deadlocked, no significant progress had since been made to avert the planned action.
