Over $163.7m was spent to hire pre-shipment agents to monitor Nigeria’s oil and gas exports between 2009 and 2016, an investigation by the House of Representatives unraveled on Tuesday, 16 May, 2017.  The money was signed out by the Federal Ministry of Finance from a pool of funds domiciled in the Central Bank of Nigeria. 

Minister of Finance- Kemi Adeosun

The Federal Government has received more than 2,500 tips from whistle-blowers, according to the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun. Adeosun made the disclosure during a town hall meeting in Abuja on Tuesday where other ministers took turns to highlight the achievements of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration so far.

An imminent merger and conversion of assets of Arik Air and Aero Contractors is one of the options being considered by the Federal Government (FG) in the buildup to establishing a new national carrier.
The option, according to sources, is due to the alleged debt burden of the airlines.

NNPC GMD- Dr Maikanti Baru

The Group Managing Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr Maikanti Baru, said that the Corporation has concluded plans to commence oil exploration in the Lake Chad Basin in Six months. Baru, disclosed this during a courtesy visit by the management of NNPC to Alhaji Kashim Shettima, the Executive Governor of Borno State at the Government House, Maiduguri, Borno State.
