Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has restated President Muhammadu Buhari’s resolve to implement a new development agenda for the Niger Delta, according to reports. Professor Osinbajo said this when a group of investors visited him at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
He answered questions from investors on different aspects of the Nigerian economy and policy, assuring them that President Buhari’s government was delivering on the reforms that would ensure an enabling business environment in the country.
Asked about the progress on the new vision for the Niger Delta, articulated by the government, Professor Osinbajo said: “our current engagement with the Niger Delta are such that people would have a stake.”
He said that the people were happy with the approach. “We are honest with what we are trying to do and we want to ensure that there is peace,” the vice president stated.
Last week, government release a N2 billion take off Grant for the the Maritime University in the Niger Delta region.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Stanbic IBTC Holdings, Mr. Yinka Sanni, who led the investors on their visit, attributed Nigeria’s exit from recession to the policies of President’s Buhari government.
