John Fashanu locked in Abuja prison for land racketeering
Former England football star, John Fashanu was locked up in a Nigerian jail crammed with 200 other prisoners. The former Wimbledon player was arrested by the Police at his home in Sun City Estate, Abuja, on “criminal conspiracy” and obtaining through false pretence. Nigerian police Deputy Inspector General Hyacinth Dagala said: “John Fashanu was arrested on July 17 in connection with an allegation of criminal conspiracy and obtaining the sum of £23,000 (N9,550,000) under false pretence.
