Hollywood actor and comedian, Aziz Ansari has denied the accusation by a 23-year-old Brooklyn-based Photographer that he sexually assaulted her and pressured her into sex after going out on a date with him last year. A 23-year-old woman had claimed that she was left feeling ‘violated’ after a date with the actor, alleging he pressured her into giving him oral sex and that he ignored cues of her discomfort.
The lady who was simply identified as Grace told an online publication, Babe, that the assault took place in New York on September 25, 2017. She said after going out on a date, the actor made her to follow him to his apartment. ‘When the waiter came over he quickly asked for the check and he said like, “Let’s get off this boat. Like, he got the check and then it was bada-boom, bada-bing, we’re out of there.
"...He said something along the lines of, “How about you hop up and take a seat?” Within moments, he was kissing me. In a second, his hand was on my breast. Then he was undressing me, then he undressed himself. I felt uncomfortable at how quickly things escalated.
When Ansari told her he was going to grab a condom within minutes of their first kiss, Grace voiced her hesitation explicitly.
I said something like, ‘Whoa, let’s relax for a sec, let’s chill ...It was really quick. Everything was pretty much touched and done within ten minutes of hooking up, except for actual sex.
...I cried the whole ride home. At that point I felt violated. That last hour was so out of my hand. I believe that I was taken advantage of by Aziz. I was not listened to and ignored. It was by far the worst experience with a man I’ve ever had."
Aziz, 34, has now responded to the allegations, which stems from a date the pair shared back in September, claiming the incident was ‘consensual’.
He wrote;
"In September of last year, I met a woman at a party. We exchanged numbers. We texted back and forth and eventually went on a date. We went out to dinner, and afterwards we ended up engaging in sexual activity, which by all indications was completely consensual. The next day, I got a text from her saying that although “it may have seemed okay,” upon further reflection, she felt uncomfortable. It was true that everything did seem okay to me, so when I heard that it was not the case for her, I was surprised and concerned.
I took her words to heart and responded privately after taking the time to process what she had said. I continue to support the movement that is happening in our culture. It is necessary and long overdue."
