An Abuja-based lady identified as Fatima Aliyu Daku has appealed to Nigerian men to marry as many wives as possible, as long as they have the means to take care of them. She made the call on her Facebook page on Thursday. She maintained that her appeal was necessitated by the growing number of single ladies and men in the country. She explained that if men were allowed to marry many wives, some of the social problems in the society, especially those associated with single ladies would be addressed.

"Dear Men, Pls marry more than one wife if u have the means. Too many single ladies around"
Meanwhile, Christians who commented on her post expressed reservation over the call, stressing that their religion abhors such move. For instance, one Abah Eleojo said
"For us Christian, our religion forbids polygamy".
Those who supported her post described it as 'encouraging'. They called on men and women to realize the importance of the call as it was just the reality on ground.
