Popular Yoruba comic actor, Abiodun Aremu better known as Baba Sabiko, is dead.
The multi-talented actor who is an entertainment, comedian, theatre-artiste, Master of Ceremonies (MC) script-writer, film producer, singer and promoter, is also the big boss of Baba Sabiko Theatre and Comedy Group Int'l, based in Ibadan.
The actor's death was announced by his colleague and radio presenter, Ademola Aremu on his Facebook page on Friday.
"I couldn't believe it until I was at the hospital where he passed away and saw his corpse. I saw him and his wife last Friday and as usual cracked some jokes together," Ademola wrote.
"Abiodun Aremu, Baba Sabiko, my Surname sake; one of the best comedians in the entertainment industry. He normally called me Uncle Demoo (though far far older than me), and I would reply Ba Sab. Painful but it is well." "Rest in peace Baba Sabiko".
During his earlier career days, Baba Sabiko joined late Duro Ladipo Theatre Group in 1974 and upon graduating from the theatre group was commissioned to create a 13-week drama on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Ibandan, Oyo State.
He subsequently established his own outfit, Abiodun Aremu (Baba Sabiko) performing Company, in 1978.
His first film was Agba Odaran produced in 1994, then several others movies followed.
Late Baba Sabiko has featured in over 40 Yoruba movies including: Ija Ominira, Ija Orogun, Bukola Omo Daddy by Peju Ogunmola, Ija Agba Meji.
