A statue of India's most famous independence campaigner, Mahatma Gandhi, has been unveiled at a railway station in the South African city of Pietermaritzburg.
The unveiling coincided with the 125th anniversary of Gandhi being thrown off a train at the station because he had boarded a coach reserved for white passengers.
50 Cuban Doctors Arrive Kenya
The first batch of Cuban doctors have arrived in Kenya's capital Nairobi, as controversy continues to swirl over the deal.
BBC reports that the 50 doctors, who are mostly women, were received by Kisumu County Governor Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o and Dr Rashid Aman, chief administrative secretary at the Health Ministry, after arriving on Tuesday night at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
The Cubans have come amid controversy surrounding their pay and treatment, including privileges such as furnished apartments, security and transport.
Ethiopia Accepts Peace Deal To End Border War With Eritrea

It says it will accept the outcome of a 2002 border commission ruling, which awarded disputed territories, including the town of Badme, to Eritrea. A crocodile has killed a Protestant pastor who was baptising followers near a lake in southern Ethiopia.
Docho Eshete was conducting the ceremony for about 80 people on Sunday morning at Lake Abaya in Arba Minch town's Merkeb Tabya district.
Residents and police told BBC Amharic a crocodile leapt from the water during the baptism and attacked him.
Zimbabwe’s Opposition Party Calls For Electoral Reform
Zimbabwe’s main opposition on Tuesday marched to the independent election agency demanding reforms it said were vital for a credible vote and accused President Emmerson Mnangagwa of using soldiers to campaign for the ruling party in rural areas.
The southern African nation will choose a new president and members of parliament on July 30 in the first election since Robert Mugabe was forced to resign after a de facto army coup.
Mnangagwa’s main challenger is 40-year-old Nelson Chamisa of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC).
