Unidentified gunmen on Saturday stormed the rural home of Kenya’s Deputy President, William Ruto's in Eldoret in northwest Kenya. Local reports indicated that the assailants overpowered the police officers guarding the home.

A total of thirty four suspected corrupt officials and businessmen have been arrested by Ethiopian authorities to allow for further investigation and possible prosecution. According to government affiliated Fana Broadcasting Corporate reports, the suspects were officials of the country's Ministry of Finance, road authorities and Ethiopian Sugar Corporation.

Ethiopia Offers Citizenship To Rastafarians

Ethiopia will issue national identity cards for the nearly 1 000 Rastafarians who long have been seen as stateless in the East African nation, the government announced on Thursday. The decision means they can enter without visas and live without residence permits. The move also affects Ethiopian Jews and foreign nationals who have made positive contributions to the country.

A notable opposition leader in Tanzania, Tundu Lissu has been charged with using abusive verbal language against the President, Magufuli after he called him a dictator and asccused him of engaging in favoritism and nepotism. Lissu who is one of the leaders of Chadema Party was arrested on Thursday last week and has remained in Police custody. His arrest came after a video of him allegedly describing the president as a dictator emerged.

Last June, Pope Francis threatened the priests of the Ahiara diocese in Nigeria with suspension unless they wrote a letter addressed to him, apologising for refusing to accept their bishop, appointed by Benedict XVI in 2012.
