Disgraced South African, paralypian, and double amputee, Oscar Pistorius was rushed to the hospital escorted by two armed guards after he complained of chest pain. Personnel at the Atteridgeville Prison, where Pistorius is currently serving a six-year sentence for the killing of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day in 2013, said the offender had initially suffered heart attack.

The estimated overall HIV prevalence rate is approximately 12.6 percent among the South African population, the highest prevalence in the world, Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) said on Monday. The total number of people living with HIV is estimated at approximately 7.06 million in 2017, Stats SA said in its mid-year population estimates for 2017. For adults aged 15-49 years, an estimated 18.0 percent of the population is HIV positive, according to Stats SA.

Two Former Guantanamo Detainees

The Ghanaian parliament has approved the extension of the stay of the two former Guantanamo Bay detainees in the country to January 2018. This follows the ratification of an agreement between the Government of Ghana and the Government of the United States of America (USA) on the resettlement in Ghana of Two former ex-Guantanamo Bay detainees in the country in accordance with article 75 ( 2 ) of the 1992 Constitution.

Police in Malawi have issued an arrest warrant for former President Joyce Banda, saying investigations have found "credible evidence" linking her to theft of public money.

President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe on Saturday said he was not stepping down or dying and that there was no one with his political stature who could immediately take over from him, according to Reuters. The 93-year-old leader has been in charge in the former British colony since independence in 1980.
