President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be departing Abuja this evening for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for a meeting slated for tomorrow Thursday as the 37th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union (AU) Heads of State and Government meeting. Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale releases this in a statement this afternoon in Abuja, saying President Tinubu would join other African counterparts in high-level meetings on institutional reforms of the African Union; peace and security.
Nglale added that the African leaders will tangentially have to deal with some specific issues such as climate change, as well as modalities of participation and priorities of the continental body in the G20.
Accordingly, this year AU summit has been themed, ‘‘Educate an African fit for the 21st Century: Building resilient education systems for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality, and relevant learning in Africa.’’
The Presidential spokesman further stated that his principal will also on a sideline of the summit, attend an extraordinary summit of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS in his capacity as the Chairman of the regional body.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian leader will be accompanied on the trip by some ministers and other top government officials, and he is expected to return to Abuja after the summit.
