The Human Rights Watch (HRW) reports that Cameroonian Military are torturing and sexually abusing Nigerian refugees and asylum seekers and denying them access to the United Nations refugee agency in the country. NAN reports that Cameroon has so far deported 100, 000 Nigerian refugees under the guise of stemming the activities of Boko Haram in the country.

Over 60 million eligible voters in Germany will today cast their votes in the country's national election to elect a new leader, with Angela Merkel gunning for reelection. Merkel is currently seeking a fourth term in office and to keep her conservative CDU/CSU alliance's status as the largest presence in Germany's parliament.

A German court has sent a man who injured 10 people when he indiscriminately struck passers-by with an axe at Dusseldorf’s main train station has been permanently committed to a psychiatric clinic. The presiding judge in the city of Dusseldorf said that the 37-year-old, who hails from Kosovo, was suffering a schizophrenic episode when he committed the acts and is therefore not criminally responsible.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has been re-elected for a fourth term in office on 24 September. Polling data from public broadcaster ARD / infratest-dimap said Merkel's centre right CDU / CSU alliance won 32.5% of the vote, ahead of the centre-left Social Democratic Party on 20% and the AfD.

The Metropolitan Police reports that 6 people sustained various degrees of injuries after a group of men sprayed a "notorious substance" on them at Westfield Stratford Shopping Centre in east London on Saturday night. According to Sky News, a 15-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the incident. His arrest was on suspicion that he caused grievous bodily harm at the Shopping Centre.
