The Metropolitan Police reports that 6 people sustained various degrees of injuries after a group of men sprayed a "notorious substance" on them at Westfield Stratford Shopping Centre in east London on Saturday night. According to Sky News, a 15-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the incident. His arrest was on suspicion that he caused grievous bodily harm at the Shopping Centre.
The report quoted Assistant Director of Operations at London Ambulance Service, Paul Gibson as saying that; "So far we have treated at least five patients at the scene and taken three patients to hospital. We remain on the scene."
He later confirmed that the figure rose to six after another patient was taken to a medical facility for urgent medical attention.
The Chief Superintendent Ade Adelekan, Newham Borough Commander also confirmed the incident. He said "two groups of men got into an argument when the attack happened. A witness said he saw one man screaming while his friends shouted it is an acid attack, his skin is burning!"
Meanwhile, it is unclear if the incident would be treated as a terror attack.
