United Kingdom (UK) Prime Minister and Leader of the Conservative Party, Boris Johnson will be resigning today as the Conservative leader after losing the support of his newly appointed chancellor, Nadhim Zahawi, ministers and MPs. According to Nadhim Zahawi “Prime Minister: this is not sustainable and it will only get worse: for you, for the Conservative Party and most importantly of all the country. You must do the right thing and go now.”

The revolt began on Tuesday evening with the resignations of Sajid Javid and Rishi Sunak as health secretary and chancellor respectively.

A Conservative leadership contest will take place this summer and a new prime minister will be in place in time for the party conference in October.

In the meantime, Mr Johnson will continue as prime minister.
