Malaria: Nigerian Nwoko Takes Fight To Antarctica

The founder and president of Prince Ned Nwoko Foundation (PNNF), a humanitarian group is clamouring for a vaccine to end malaria in the continent. Mr NosikeOgbuenyi, Strategic Communication Advisor of the PNNF, made the development known in a statement in Abuja.

26,039 Babies Born In Nigeria On New Year Day – UNICEF

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has estimated that 26,039 babies might have been born in Nigeria on New Year Day(1st January 2019). This was disclosed by Peter Hawkins, UNICEF Nigeria Representative.

The Ministry of Health and Sanitation of Sierra Leone has taken necessary measures of public health, formally notified the World Health Organization (WHO) of the Lassa fever outbreak in the country. The country has between October 30 and November 25, 2019 recorded 7 cases of the deadly fever and 3 deaths. Three of which were laboratory-confirmed cases, 2 suspected and 2 (deceased) probable cases.

The United Nations Children’s Fund( UNICEF) has on Sunday said it is ready to commence the immunization of two million persons against yellow fever disease in Ekiti State, Vanguard reports. The vaccination exercise set to commence between January 24 to February 2,2020 is targeted at persons between the ages of 9 months and 44 years, at 85 per cent of the population, making up 2.3 million people in the state.
