FG Launches Policy Documents On Reproductive Health

As part of efforts to provide policy direction for all actors and stakeholders on reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health service delivery in Nigeria, the federal ministry of Health in collaboration with other partners yesterday launched eleven policy documents on reproductive and maternal health.

Nigerian Professor Elected First Black Member of IFFS

A Nigerian Professor with a specialty in Reproductive Endocrinology, Oladapo Ashiru, has been elected into the executive council of the International Federation of Fertility Societies (IFFS). Following his election, Ashiru becomes the Secretary General of the New Jersey, United States-based IFFS.

The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has alerted public, especially healthcare providers on fake Dukoral oral Cholera vaccine, circulating in Bangladesh. Prof. Moji Adeyeye, the Director General (DG) of NAFDAC made this known to warn drug vendors ahead of time. She revealed the packaging of the falsified drug Dukoral vaccine is carrying label displayed in English and French language.

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has announced that it set to launch a new global campaign on Vaccines Safety. This is following the increase in outbreaks of vaccine-preventable disease.

Drug Abuse Rate In Kano State Dropped From 3% To 1%

According to Dr. Ibrahim Abdul, the Kano state Commander, National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) the rate of illicit drug abuse and intake of intoxicants in the state has reduced from three to one per cent (3% to 1%) during the last quarter of 2018 spanning through the first quarter of 2019.

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Nasarawa State Chapter have threatened to embark on a 3-day warning strike from Sunday midnight over welfare issues. The NMA disclosed this to newsmen on Friday in Lafia. They claimed that the association has given the state government enough time to address their plight of which the state government has been deaf to them.
