Nigerian officials are partnering with their counterparts in South Africa to brainstorm on water management. The meeting, which got underway in the penultimate week, follows the request from the Nigerian Integrated Water Resources Management Commission (NIWRMC) to undertake a technical study tour of South Africa to share water regulatory best practices.

Both countries will exchange water governance strategies between them.

Issues discussed at the meeting included Water Tribunal processes, water use licence registration and revenue collection (WARMS) and the water billing system processes.

Further to these strategic engagements, the Department of Water and Sanitation will on hosts their visitors at the Vaal Dam in Deneysville, Free State, as part of a media tour.
