Gunmen Kidnap Niger State Commissioner For Information

Unknown Gunmen have on kidnapped Alhaji Mohammed Sani Idris, the Niger State Commissioner for Information and Strategy in his hometown of Baban Tuga, Tafa Local Government Area. The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Ahmed Ibrahim Matane confirmed the incident on Monday, saying the security agencies in the state have commenced operation to rescue the Commissioner.


“He was kidnapped at the early hours of today around 1am at Baban Tunga in Tafa local government. Security are already on the trail of the kidnappers and we hope they will rescue him unharmed,” the SSG said.


Matane explained that the gunmen rode on motorcycles, wielding sophisticated weapons during a heavy downpour.


Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Wasiu Abiodun has promised to provide more details of the incident.
