The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede stated that religious sect was discovered to be laundering money for terrorists. He made this known during a one-day dialogue on ‘Youth, Religion and the Fight Against Corruption’ which was held on Wednesday at the Musa Yar’adua Centre in Abuja, where he revealed that another religious body was found to be shielding a money launderer after suspicious funds were traced to the bank account of the organization.

According to him, “A religious sect in this country has been found to be laundering money for terrorists.

“We were able to trace some laundered money to a religious organization and when we approached the religious organization about it and we were carrying out our investigation, we got a restraining order stopping us from carrying out our investigation.”
