Amidst ASUU Strike: EKSU Announced Resumption Of Academic Activities

Ekiti State University in Ado Ekiti yesterday after a resolution at the ASUU meeting has announced school resumption today Tuesday 24th May 2022. Information and Corporate Affairs Director, Bode Olofinmuagun disclosed this in a statement yesterday, saying the decision was reached on Monday after the school management meeting that took place in the school. Olofinmuagun revealed that the school management has reviewed and discussed the impact of the industrial action with all the four staff unions of the institution.


The Academic Staff Union of the Nigerian University (ASUU) has declared an indefinite industrial action since February 2022, over Academic earn allowances and issues bordering on joining the IPPIS, a payment platform by the federal government. 

The EKSU revealed that the school management was concerned over the predicament of its student and see there is no need to linger the industrial action beyond this time. 

He laments that one academic session (2021/2022) of admission is still outstanding, while the 2020/2021 second semester is yet to be concluded all in the name of strike action. 

Olofinmuagun further stated that “the admission process for the 2022/2023 academic session will commence soonest,”
The school management in the statement added that it will reopen the school in the interest of their student, parents, and guardians of society and its survival.
