FCTA Reintroduces Monthly Sanitation In Abuja

Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, says the administration has concluded plans to reintroduce monthly sanitation as part of strategies to keep the city clean. The Minister stated this in Abuja after a closed-door meeting with contractors handling different projects in the FCT.

FCTA Demolishes Multimillion Naira Duplex In Abuja 

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) on Monday demolished a multimillion Naira duplex built on plot 226, in Wuse Zone 6, an unapproved land. This was revealed by the Director, Department of Development Control Director, Mukhtar Galadima who said his team had to carry out extensive investigation to ascertain the original owner of the plot, given varying claims that were being put forth by different parties.  It was revealed that the building, is said to belong to His Royal Highness Oba Oyebade Lipede but was fraudulently taken over by Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Kamba and Alhaji Ademu Teku, who illegally constructed the duplex against all warnings.

13 States Prone To Flooding As Cameroon Opens Lagdo Dam

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has disclosed that about 13 states are prone to flooding over the opening of the Lagdo dam in the Republic of Cameroon. The agency further revealed that the situation may worsen due to the release of excess water from the Lagdo dam by its operators. The States, according to the agency are Adamawa, Taraba, Benue, Niger, Nasarawa, Kebbi, Kogi, Edo, Delta, Anambra, Cross River, Rivers, and Bayelsa. The agency also stated that the country should expect the Kainji, Shiroro, and Jebba dams to overflow between now and the end of October.

NLC Gives Police 48 Hours To Vacate NURTW Secretariat In Abuja

Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called on the Nigeria Police Force to order police operatives to immediately vacate the secretariat of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Abuja within 48 hours. NLC disclosed this on Monday in a communiqué at the end of an emergency National Administrative Council (NAC) meeting. The crisis in NURTW had deepened on Sunday, following the emergence of a caretaker committee chaired by Tajudeen Agbede. The committee also announced the dissolution of the Tajudeen Baruwa-led executive, citing tenure expiration.

Military Conducts Mass Burial for Personnel Killed in Niger State

The military has just concluded the mass burial for the personnel who lost their lives during an ambush and air crash in Niger State. The burial was conducted at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja today. It was reported that on the 14th of August 2023, some bandits had ambushed troops around Zangeru general area in Niger, which led to the death of 14 soldiers while 7 were injured. The incident led to the deployment of the Nigerian Air Force evacuation aircraft. Unfortunately, the aircraft crashed around Chukuba village of Shiroro LGA, killing all passengers onboard, including two pilots and two crew members.
