IGP Establishes Schools Protection Squad

The acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olukayode Egbetokun, has announced the establishment of the Schools Protection Squad (SPS) which is aimed at improving the safety and security of educational institutions nationwide. This was made known in a statement issued on Monday by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Olumuyiwa Adejobi, adding that the IGP was also planning to launch an in-depth Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) booklet for the Safe Schools Programme.

No Going Back on Wednesday Industrial Action – NLC Insist

The Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, has commenced mass mobilisation of its members for the industrial showdown slated for Wednesday, 2nd August, 2023 over the hardship being experienced by Nigerian workers.
NLC has called on concerned Nigerians to join them in the strike protest which is scheduled to take off from the Unity Fountain, Abuja at on Wednesday, August 2, 2023. The NLC laments, “There is nowhere in the world where government leaves its citizens totally to the vagaries of the market without some measure of control and protection. The Federal Government should immediately deal decisively with the criminal content of subsidy instead of exposing ordinary citizens to avoidable pain and hardship.

DSS Re-arrests Suspended CBN Governor For Terrorism

Suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele was rearrested on Tuesday by operatives of the Department of State Services after he was granted N20 million bail by a Federal High Court in Lagos. The re-arrest followed a drama when DSS operatives came at odds with officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) over the custody of the suspended CBN boss.

Sit-At-Home: Nnamdi kanu order, Simon Ekpa to Stop The Madness

The detained leader of the indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has directed his self acclaimed prime Minister, Simon Ekpa who sit far away in Finland to end the Sit-At-Home madness in the region. Kanu also warned Ekpa against antagonising the southeast governors and other political leaders in the region. The IPOB leader also warned Ekpa and other Biafrans sympathisers to desist from enforcing the sit-at-home because they are inflicting more injuries on the same people they are claiming to protect.

JUST IN: Court Grants Emefiele Bail

Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court in Lagos has granted the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, bail of twenty million naira with one surety. Justice Oweibo however noted that the embattled former CBN governor should be remanded in prison custody pending the perfection of his bail condition.
