Kaduna – Abuja Train Resumes Operations This November – FG

The federal government has announced the resumption of train operation at the Kaduna-Abuja rail track after several months of shutdown. The Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Sambo made this known today in Abuja while presenting the scorecard for his stewardship. Recall during the month of March 2022 the train operation came under attack from members of the Islamic State of West African Province, ISWAP where they took dozens of passengers hostage leading the Federal Government to suspend its operations.

UNICEF Calls For Immediate Rescue Of 21 Children Kidnapped In Katsina

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) on Friday called on relevant Nigerian authorities to hastily rescue 21 children abducted in a farm in Mairuwa community, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State on Sunday. The UNICEF, in a statement signed by its Representative in Nigeria, Ms. Cristian Munduate, described the abductions as “reprehensible,” abduction of children whether at home, at school or anywhere. While strongly condemning the act UNICEF said it is concerned that the children are victims of attacks by people who should be protecting them.

Bayelsa Government, PANDEF, Berates Sadiya Farouq Over Flood Comment

The Bayelsa State Government yesterday slammed the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Mrs Sadiya Farouq, over alleged bogus claim that the state is not one of the 10 most impacted states by the 2022 floods. The Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Mr Ayibaina Duba, speaking on behalf of the state government, said the minister’s claim was disheartening but not surprising.

NiMET Warns Nigerians Of Harmattan Hazards

The Nigerian Metrological Agency (NiMET) has deemed it fit to sensitize the public on possible hazards to face in the Northern part of the nation at the commencement of the dry season popularly known as harmattan. NiMET has warned of the possibility of bird strikes due to the influx of migratory birds to the country from other parts of the world, flight delays, and cancellations. This was disclosed by the Director- General OF NiMET, Prof. Mansur Matazu on 2nd November b2022 in a forecast seminar that was made publicly available. The statement partly read, “Following weather report of observed movement of dust plumes from the source region (Niger and Chad) where dust-haze and haziness are prevalent, relatively low, visibility values are expected into the county within the next 24 hours; NiMET alerts the public of the possible commencement of the dry season otherwise called the harmattan season in most parts of the North.
