Residents of Abule Ado, FESTAC, Ojo areas in Lagos State are grieving over an explosion that rocked the area on Sunday morning with scores of houses and valuable properties destroyed. Officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA) have confirmed the development.
Meanwhile, the Federal Fire Servicehave reacted through their twitter handle by assuring that the situation is been controlled by their men: "We are touch with our men in Fire Stations around Badagry and FESTAC, we are trying to gather more information as regards the reported explosion in Lagos State, Nigeria. We are on it."
NEMA reacts;
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has refuted claims of various social media platforms that the explosion which rocked Abule Ado, Trade fair axis of Lagos was caused by disruptions on the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) oil pipeline. NEMA's Acting Coordinator, Lagos Territory Office, Mr IbrahimFarinloye stated that the explosion was unconnected to pipeline vandalism. according to him, the information given by officials of the Lagos Fire Service who are currently on ground at the scene of the explosion revealed that the incident was as a result of an implosion whichoccurred in a factory located in Abule Ado area.
Farinloye informed that precautionary measures have been taking by the NNPC to shutdown pipeline channels passing through the area. He also confirmed that buildings and other properties around the areas were affected.
