As Christian faithful prepare to celebrate the death and resurrection of their saviour Jesus Christ, the I nspector General of Police, Ibrhaim Idris has ordered massive deployment of security operatives across the country to ensure a hitch-free celebration. The Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Ibrahim disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen in Abuja.

He said the IGP had directed Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zonal Commands and Commissioners of Police nationwide to supervise and implement robust security arrangements and massive deployment to prevent breakdown of law and order.


The statement said areas to be prioritized include places of worship, recreation centres and other public facilities.


“Consistent surveillance, intelligence gathering and continuous raid of criminal hideouts, black spots, flash/vulnerable points are already ongoing and will be sustained throughout the period. Vehicular and foot patrols and adequate visibility policing will also be embarked upon to guarantee safety of lives and property throughout the period,” the police stated.


The force urged the public to cooperate with the personnel of the Police Highway Teams, the Special Anti-robbery Squads and other police units deployed to prevent crime on the highways and major roads across the country.
