The Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni charged the clerics, and community leaders to give more emphasis on preaching for Unity and peaceful co-existence in Nigeria. Buni gave this task in his goodwill message to the Christian faithful celebrating Easter.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by his media aide, Mamman Mohammed, the Governor said Nigerians can only practice their religions and achieve prosperity when there is peace.

In his words, “Some few years back, we could not go to Mosques and Churches in Yobe state due to security challenges, but today we glorify God for the peace we now enjoy across the state.

“We should therefore guard it jealously and avoid anything that could tamper with Peace and security in Yobe state and Nigeria”.

Buni also said it is imperative for the faithful to internalize the values of love and sacrifice as reflected in the teachings of Easter at this period of our national life.

“The good lessons of love and sacrifice should be used to promote peace and unity for the prosperity of the country and Nigerians”, he said.

The Governor said it is a blessed period for both Muslim and Christian faithful as the Christians observe Easter while their Muslim brothers are observing the Ramadan fast.

Therefore, Buni urges Nigerians to take full advantage of this period to pray for the country.
