Late Ex- Health Minister -Osotimehin

The Former Minister of Health and Executive Director of United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Babatunde Osotimehin is dead. The incident was announced this morning at the Nigerian Office, United Nations, New York.

Somali group Al-Shabab, which has ties to al-Qaeda, has spent at least three years in the shadow of Nigeria’s Boko Haram as Africa’s deadliest militant group. But new figures suggest that that trend is changing. Al-Shabab was responsible for 4,281 casualties in 2016 compared to 3,499 by Boko Haram according to data collected by the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project ( ACLED ) and compiled by the Africa Center for Strategic Studies, an institution affiliated to the U.S. Department of Defense.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has disclosed that the recently acquired MI-35 Helicopter Gunship and other military hardware have been deployed for security operations across the country, stressing that they are recording huge successes.

Rochas Okorocha

The Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha on Tuesday dissolved the Imo State Executive Council and the Local Government Transition Committees. The Press Secretary to the Governor who made the disclosure in a statement, however, declined to state reasons for the action.
